Come back to the
NRYHA Newsletter
through out the year to check for
new and updated information.
Thank you to everyone that made it out to last week's All Association Parent Meeting.
There has been a great response from many of you about the content that was shared from the Player Development Committee. It is good to see that our membership understands and supports the direction our association is heading developmentally.
Below is the link to the American Development Model video that was shown. You can watch the video by clicking on the video in the lower right corner. Check out the rest of the website as it contains information about the research that was done to create this program and what the expectations and goals are for our youth hockey players, coaches, association and parents.
USA Hockey's Board of Directors passed all aspects of the Progressive Checking Skill Developmental Program, which lays out new rules that are built to protect young players from injuries sustained from body checking.
You can read the article from the link below and watch the following video showing examples of the new rule change.
Examples of Legal & Illegal Body Contact under New Rule Change
USA Hockey breaks down examples of body contact that would be considered legal and illegal after the body checking rule change proposal passed in June. These clips demonstrate how proper body contact can separate an opponent from the puck and create plays rather than ignoring the puck and focusing solely on the hit.
The NRYHA Board of Directors has produced two informational pieces to provide members with updated information on the status of the Association as we prepare for the 2011-2012 season. We hope that this information will provide additional background on the necessity of increasing fees as well as the need for members to more actively participate in keeping this Association strong. Please feel free to contact any Board member with questions or concerns.
