Learn to Skate

Our Learn to Skate Program is designed specifically for new skaters who have not previously participated in the New Richmond Youth Hockey Association (NRYHA).

If you child has participated in our GOAL program but not a full season of hockey they may participate in Learn to Skate.

If your child participated in the Fall Learn to Skate and didn’t play hockey over the winter, you are welcome and encouraged to register for the Spring session as well.

When

March 2026

  • 30 minutes every Thursday

Sessions

  • Two sessions are offered
  • 5:00-5:30 or 5:30-6:00

*Sessions are limited to 25 skaters each to ensure quality instruction.

What to wear

  • Nylon gloves (cotton gets wet)
  • Inexpensive knee and elbow pads
  • Helmet - bike helmets work, but face protection is preferred
  • Skates - hockey or figure are fine!
  • Dress comfortably, long johns or sweats work great!
