Mite evaluations will be held October 8th

5:30-6:30 2020/2021

6:45-7:45 2019/2018

Mite practices will continue to be on Wednesdays & Sundays

Returning Mites have through August 31st to register and then a $100 late fee will be applied.

First year Mites registration can register through October 11th.

NRYHA is required to verify birth dates for all new players so first year Mites should expect to receive an email requesting a birth certificate.

• Skills focused on are skating, puck control, passing, shooting, positioning (offense/defense), checking/body contact
• Level 1
• Skating - Ready position, forward start, forward stride, stops, backward skating, backwards stop and edge control
• Puck control - side to side
• Level 2 (all level 1 skills should be sufficient)
• Skating - Skating with the puck, forward crossover, backward crossover
• Puck control - front to back
• Passing - Forehand and receiving
• Shooting - Wrist shot, backhand
• Level 3 (all level 1 & 2 skills should be sufficient)
• Skating - Power turns, transitions
• Puck control - diagonal
• Passing - backhand, passing while skating
• Shooting - Quick shots/rebounds
• Checking/Body contact - Stick check, stick lift, poke check, body position/coverage
• Positioning - Forecheck and breakout
• Level 4 (all level 1, 2 & 3 skills should be sufficient)
• Skating - Speed and agility
• Puck control - toe-drag front and back
• Passing - Saucer
• Shooting - Snapshot
• Checking/Body contact - Angles of approach to gain possession of puck, protect puck possession
• Positioning - Into to basic systems
• All levels have a 2:1 practice/game ratio and will have 2-3 practices per week
