Mite Skill Review

5:00-6:00pm - Birth years 2018 & 2017
6:00-7:00pm - Birth years 2020 & 2019

Registration
- Registration is now open!
- If you are registering as a first year, please also register for GOAL here as well as Try Hockey For Free here
- Regular registration is from July 1st through August 31st for all returning players
- Late registration for returning players will begin September 1st.
- First year Mites may register through November 16th without a late fee.
- All players must register with USA Hockey prior to registering with NRYHA (see below for more information)
- First year players and players new to NRYHA will be required to send a copy of a government issued Birth Certificate to the Registrar in the beginning of the season, please expect an email regarding this.
USA Hockey Registration
Important Note - if player has more than one address, please make sure to use their New Richmond address or the address that qualifies them to play for NRYHA. This will lessen the chance of USA Hockey flagging them.
- Each skater needs to be registered with USA Hockey prior to registering with NRYHA.
- The USA Hockey Registration fees are listed below. The Affiliate fee (if applicable) varies by Affiliate. If a participant plays and coaches, he/she pays only one registration fee.
- A USA Hockey membership is REQUIRED for all NRYHA players.

Mite Program Structure
- Skills focused on are skating, puck control, passing, shooting, positioning (offense/defense), checking/body contact
- Level 1
- Skating - Ready position, forward start, forward stride, stops, backward skating, backwards stop and edge control
- Puck control - side to side
- Level 2 (all level 1 skills should be sufficient)
- Skating - Skating with the puck, forward crossover, backward crossover
- Puck control - front to back
- Passing - Forehand and receiving
- Shooting - Wrist shot, backhand
- Level 3 (all level 1 & 2 skills should be sufficient)
- Skating - Power turns, transitions
- Puck control - diagonal
- Passing - backhand, passing while skating
- Shooting - Quick shots/rebounds
- Checking/Body contact - Stick check, stick lift, poke check, body position/coverage
- Positioning - Forecheck and breakout
- Level 4 (all level 1, 2 & 3 skills should be sufficient)
- Skating - Speed and agility
- Puck control - toe-drag front and back
- Passing - Saucer
- Shooting - Snapshot
- Checking/Body contact - Angles of approach to gain possession of puck, protect puck possession
- Positioning - Into to basic systems
- All levels have a 2:1 practice/game ratio and will have 2-3 practices per week

Season Fees
1st year registration $285
2+ year registration $310
Raffle Ticket Fee $100 (per family)
Jersey (all 1st years & 2+ years if they have outgrown theirs) $25
Away Jamboree (Optional) $100
New this year! 3v3 winter league sign up is done during registration (Level 3 & 4 only, limited spots available and will be filled on first come, first served basis and option will be closed once teams are filled) $200
New this year! Matt Johnson's Skate Camp & 3v3 sessions in September at NRYHA will be offered at the Mite level. Head to the Camps & Clinics page for more information.
Late fee of $100 will be applied starting September 1st.
Installment late fee of $15 will be applied after a 7-day grace period.
All outstanding balances from previous season(s) need to be paid in full prior to or at the time of registration. Please reach out to the NRYHA Clerk if you have questions.
